JOSEPH GINANNI Joe Ginanni left the ground and took his final flight skyward Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. Joe was born Jan. 15, 1947, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Messilio "Cecil" and Easter "Billy" Ginanni. He graduated from. Carlsbad High School in 1965. His first love was flying. He joined the U.S. Air Force after he graduated from New Mexico State University. In 1979, he left the U.S. Air Force and went to Las Vegas, looking for new adventures, where enjoyed announcing the BMX races at the Ed Fountain and Tule Springs racetracks. Meanwhile, pursuing his career in nuclear technology, by working at EG&G, REECO and, finally, retiring from the Department of Energy as the aviation manager for the National Nuclear Security Administration in Nevada and Washington, D.C. He received several awards and accommodations throughout his career for his contributions to our great country. After retiring he enjoyed woodworking, travel and time with his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billy; aunts, Peggy, Kay and Rena; and uncle, Carl. Joe is survived by his father, Cecil; daughter, Amber and son-in-law, Damon; son, Craig and daughter-in-law, Regina; son Tony; his grandchildren, Christopher, Kyler, Sabastian and Talen; his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanie and Jim Young and her children, JJ, Mitchell and Brandy Turner. Graveside will be at noon Friday, Feb. 28, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
