John Leonard Simmons passed away on December 26th, 2018 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas. Born May 21, 1947 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. John came from a large family where he was a devoted husband to his wife Claudia (Molina) Simmons of 53 yrs. He is also survived by daughters, Carla Simmons Hamblin & Marlene Simmons Melendez; son, Jimmy Simmons; son in-law Mike Hamblin; 4 grandchildren, Kalee Burns, Zach Hamblin, Heath Melendez, Luke Hamblin; great grandson Blake Starbuck; Siblings, Linda Pena, Rudy Armijo, Adele Armijo, Steven Armijo, Sharon Blad, Dennis Ross, Gary Breaker, Glenda Olsen, Lori Simmons, Lorina Simmons & step mother Kay Simmons. John is preceded by his mother Ruby Armijo, father Art Simmons & brothers Jerry Simmons and David Armijo. John joined the Army as a mechanic and spent time in Europe before coming back to the states where he and Claudia moved to Vegas in 1969. He began his life long career as an upholsterer at Caesars Palace for 31 years, where he retired in 2009, and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11 at Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005

So sorry for the loss of a great man.I was fortunate enough to have crossed his path at Caesars Palace. He made time to fix or repair anything I brought him in the upholstery shop. He will be missed greatly.
