1926 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
CLARE NEILSON Clare Thayne Neilson passed away April 6, 2018, at home, with his beloved Jeanette, of 72 years, by his side. He was born December 15, 1926, in Washington, Utah, to Alvin and Sadie Thayne Neilson. He and his twin brother, Cline, were the first of five children, Betty, Bryce and Marlin. They joined the Merchant Marines working in the Persian Gulf and stationed in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan. Clare and Jeanette (Johnson) moved to Henderson in 1946, where they remained active in the LDS church and the community. He was a member of the Local 525 Plumber and Pipefitters Union and helped build many of the strip hotels. He enjoyed spending time with his two boys hunting and fishing. Clare was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings; son, Terry (Sharon); and daughter-in-law, Janice. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son, Mike (Estella); five grandchildren; six great-grand-children; and one great-great-grand-daughter. After retirement, they moved to Hurricane, Utah for 18 enjoyable years, ultimately returning to Henderson to be near family. Viewing will be 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, with service following at 11 a.m., both at the Paradise Hills LDS Chapel, 485 Mission Drive, Henderson, NV 89002. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:20 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
