George Klein was a Memphis radio DJ and television host, and Elvis Presley's best friend. Klein and Presley met while they were attending Humes High School in Memphis and became lifelong friends. While Presley achieved international fame as a musician, Klein helped spread the word about rock and roll on WHBQ radio and on Memphis TV's "Talent Party" program. But the two remained close: Each man served as best man at the other's wedding, and Klein was a pallbearer at Presley's funeral. Presley nicknamed his friend "GK," and that nickname led to Klein's DJ moniker, "The Geeker," used even in recent years on his Sirius XM show, "Elvis Time." A fixture of the Memphis music scene with a 64-year career on the city's airwaves, Klein was a member of the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

Elvis loved you, and you loved Elvis, a friend to all of us Elvis fans, your radiant smile and super Radio voice like no other, you blessed us with your kindness and love.
Thank you for making me feel so special when you said that "I looked like a Movie-Star while posing for pictures in front of your Radio booth across Graceland! In 1993, my husband and I married on the outdoor stage across Memphis, you congratulated us when we gave you the news, and told my husband, "Be
sure to treat this little lady nice, The Memphis mafia is watching," that was so sweet. We always greeted you around Memphis and at the University where you hosted speakers, and you always remembered
us, and were so happy we were together and
so happy still! How we will miss you dear friend.

My husband and I have known George since the late 1950's. Wick met George through Alan Fortas, and I met him through a high school friend who knew the Presleys in Tupelo. George was always friendly , gracious, and a gentleman. I called him gentle George. He was a true friend to Elvis. He and Elvis always had respect for one another. George had his own career, and never took advantage of their friendship. The last time we saw George was at Horseshoe Casino. He was so much fun. He took the time to visit with us even though he was busy. I know that he and Elvis are having a good time in heaven. In 2010, I was fortunate that he wrote something special in my book that he wrote, "Elvis My Best Man." We think that Elvis would say, George, my best man. God bless you, George. You will be missed. You did a lot of good in this world. Wick F. and Josephine P. Follin Bartlett, Tn.

I so enjoyed working with George on Talent Party....what a wonderful experience. Not only did I have an opportunity to be a part of the WHBQ-ties; but,the group traveled to many State Fairs and events bringing live music and entertainment to a lot of people that might not have had that opportunity. It was a team entertainment production... no matter what your role was he made you feel as important as the headliner. It was good and I thank you for that.
