HARRY RAY Obituary
HARRY RAY Harry Odes Ray, A.I.A., N.C.A.R.B., 62, passed away peacefully April 30, 2019 at Nathan Adelson Hospice with his wife and family by his side. Born February 22, 1957 in Chillicothe, Ohio, he moved with his family to Las Vegas in 1965. He graduated from Valley High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture at the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2008, Harry and his business partner, Robert Zimmer, co-founded zimmerraystudios with locations in Las Vegas and Seattle. In addition to his passion for architecture, he had many interests including music, playing drums, traveling, reading and teaching, which he did in years past at the UNLV School of Architecture. A scholarship for this school has been created in his name by the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Harry was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and business partner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Louise Mae Ray; and brother, Robin L. Washburn. He is survived by his loving wife, of 32 years, Lisa Patton Ray; sisters, Grace (Gabe) Vargas and Cyndee Ray Shingledecker; brother, Gary Washburn; sisters-in-law, Carrie (Patrick) Little and Kelly (Harve) Pearson; brother-in-law, David Patton; father-in-law Ben Wilkinson; business partner, Robert Zimmer; and numerous beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and colleagues. A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146. The family would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice and Elena Pastrana at Palm Mortuary, for their guidance, compassion and professionalism.
