1936 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
HOWARD WEETALL Howard Weetall, 81, passed away May 24, 2018, in Las Vegas. He was born in 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. As a boy, he moved to Los Angeles, California. He attended UCLA, where he earned both undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in biology. After college, he served in the U.S. Air Force reserves. While living in California, in 1962, he married Billie Rosenberg after they met on a blind date while he was visiting Chicago. He published over 200 technical articles, acquired over 50 patents and edited several technical books. Most of his career he worked at Corning Glass Works, where his work was both practical and profitable for the company and included diagnostic tests and industrial biotechnology processes such as hydrolyzing whey for use in food. While living in Corning, his wife, Billie, had an antiquarian book store and he also became a life-long collector of rare books, antiques and art. He retired in Las Vegas, where the weather is nice and he could play Poker four days a week. He loved to travel and had been all over the world. His wife died in 2006 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by his long-time companion, Jean Stewart; his daughters, Laurel and Marla (Paul Moster); and his grandson, David Moster. Services are pending.
