James Spruill


James W. Spruill, 82, of Boulder City, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006. He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Dublin, Texas, and resided in Nevada for 20 years. James was a high school coach for 28 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received his masters in education at Rice University. James was on the offensive tackle from 1948-1950 for the Baltimore Colts. He is survived by his wife, Alma Spruill; daughters, Connie Boatwright of Tucson, Ariz., Karen Pacheco of Lompoc, Calif., Charleen Bryce of Boulder City, Linda Burns of Boulder City, and Debbie Crouse of Lompoc, Calif.; sons, John Spruill of San Diego, and Charlie Burns of Daingerfield, Texas; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Bethany Baptist Church, 210 Wyoming, Boulder City. Graveside services to follow at noon, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.
