1993 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
LAUREN HITT Lauren "Lala" Elizabeth Hitt, went home to be with our Lord, Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Lauren was a brilliant, compassionate and courageous woman, born August 14, 1993 in Las Vegas. Her short journey on earth included a vigorous pursuit of her three passions: animal advocacy, art and music. Beginning at a young age, she was recognized for her excellence in art on a national level in the 2004 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Design Contest. In 2014, working for the Film Music Society, Lauren spent a year creating a database and cataloguing the largest movie soundtrack collection in the United States, including film scores from the greats, such as Elmer Bernstein, John Williams and other distinguished composers. This tedious, yet integral contribution resulted in the creation of a database of 10,000 soundtracks, an extensive music collection now housed at the University of Southern California. This fall she was accepted and was planning to begin her education in music production at the Los Angeles Recording School (LARS). In her family, Lauren was loved beyond words. A gentle and loving daughter, sister, cousin, granddaughter and niece, Lauren's capacity for empathy, compassion and acceptance made her a shining light in our family. She was a great listener and problem solver for others, approaching life in her own unique way and generously sharing her brilliant intuition with any of us that shared a life challenge with her. She was also an animal rights enthusiast, which shone through the love of her dog, Ivy. One of her last acts on this earth was fundraising for the Born Free Foundation, an international charity to protect wildlife populations. She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Buckley Ashton (Rod); father, William Douglas Hitt (Wendy); grandmother, Elizabeth Buckley; brothers, Jordan Buckley Ashton and Connor Scheer Hitt; step- brother, Jeremy Dean Ashton (Kristi); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly. Lauren's celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 13 at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89129. Because of Lauren's great love of animals and their care, gifts may be made in Lauren's name to Noah's Animal House, www.noahsanimalhouse.org, attention Marlene Richter, ED. Also, because of Lauren's admiration for Judge Cedric Kerns, gifts can also be made to Mission High School, 801 Veterans Memorial Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89101, 702-799-7880. Lauren was a kind, gentle soul with a heart larger than most. While she was deeply loved and will be forever missed, her loving and accepting spirit will live on with her family.
