Manuel J. "Manny" Cortez, 67, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006. He was born April 29, 1939, in Las Cruces, N.M., and had been a Nevada resident since 1944. He was the retired president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Manny is survived by his loving wife, of 45 years, Joanna Cortez; daughters, Cynthia Musgrove and her husband, Dan and Catherine Cortez Masto and her husband, Paul; grandson, Andrew Musgrove; granddaughter, Christina Musgrove; mother, Mary Cortez; sister, Patricia Snider; aunt, Mary Tapia, all of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward C. Cortez. The most important part of Manny's life was his family. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, with a rosary at 6 p.m., both at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary, Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Ave. Interment immediately following Mass at Palm Valley View Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Manuel J.
