MARK ELLIS Mark Ellis passed away May 6, 2019. He was born June 6, 1945 (one year to the day of D-Day) in Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC where his father was based during World War II, before being sent to the Pacific Theatre. When his father came back to the states after the war ended, the entire family moved north to Brooklyn, NY, where Mark spent his childhood. He attended elementary school and high school in Brooklyn. He then attended Brooklyn College where he graduated in June 1966. Following college, Mark then attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Upon graduation in June 1970, he did his residency in Kansas City, MO. Upon completing his residency, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served one year in Greenland and the second year at Nellis Air Force Base. We would mention that Mark served his two years as a Captain, which he was very proud of. He loved his time in the military, he loved this Country, and he loved President Trump. After completing his service in the military, he elected to remain in Las Vegas, because he had grown to love the area. Mark began practicing medicine in Las Vegas in mid-1973 and continued practicing there until his passing. Mark is survived by his brother, Jonathan; his nieces, Naomi, Deborah, and Aviva; his step-son, Bradley; and his 30-year life partner, Lolita Machado, and her daughter, Jay Cruz, and her grandson, Robert Machado, who Mark helped raise since he was a baby. Mark was loved and respected by all who knew him well. He will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wed., May 8, at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 7251 West Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129.

Sorry to hear about Dr. Ellis's passing. We worked together for 14 years in two separate offices. He was a great mentor and teacher. He had a great sense of humor. He also had a great love for his country. The shock to me is that he was such a healthy person. He was one of the hardest workers I have ever known. Mark you will be missed.

Dr. Ellis has been my doctor since 2001. He was my first and only primary doctor at the VA. He once told me he would work until he dropped and they had to carry him out of the VA feet first. He was an excellent doctor and a friend. He will be missed. RIP Dr. Ellis.

I went to the VA Clinic yesterday for a blood draw for my upcoming appointment with Dr. Ellis on 5.29.2019 and was told he had passed away two weeks before. I had seen Dr. Ellis for over a decade through the VA system. He was rough at the corners [Brooklyn upbringing] which I loved, a workaholic [on my last visit, I told him he was going to work until he dropped to which he said "I am not doing it for the money....I don't need it"] and he loved hot dogs and popcorn [Coney Island no doubt, LOL] . really? OK Doc! I will miss you my passing, caring friend and TYVM.
