Nick Hawkins Obituary
1965-2005. The extraordinarily gifted musician and artist, Nick Hawkins, unexpectedly passed away at age 40, Monday, Oct. 10, 2005. He will be sorely missed and mourned by legions of fans, friends, and family. Nick was the former guitarist and producer of Big Audio Dynamite II, receiving gold and platinum albums for worldwide sales and a prestigious Billboard award. He toured the world extensively with U2, Live, The Ramones, Public Enemy, G-Love and the Special Sauce, Radiohead, and the Goo Goo Dolls, among others. Nick also worked in films and television, and his various works include writing and producing songs currently used as sound clips on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC's Access Hollywood, CBS' Elvis, and working on films such as Sahara and The Flintstones. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Binque Hawkins; mother, Maggi Stannard; father, John "Spike" Hawkins; stepfather, Russell Stannard; brothers, Tim Hawkins and Mark Hawkins; and son, Dante Lauder Hawkins, 16. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada 89129.
