1930 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
NORMA DUTT March 18, 1930 August 30, 2018 Norma Ewing Dutt, 88, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 30, 2018 in Las Vegas. She was born in Wadsworth, Ohio where she grew up with her two brothers and sister, Thomas, Richard and Marjorie. She attended Ohio University. While in Ohio met her future husband, Alfred "Al" Dutt, who was from Wadsworth as well. They married in Oceanside, Calif. while Al was stationed at Camp Pendleton from 1953-1956. Sons Eric and Mark were born in 1959 and 1960 respectively. The Dutt family briefly lived in Madrid, Spain during the time that Al served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1962. In 1963 the family moved to Las Vegas where Al was a musician at the Sahara, Dunes, Sands, Riviera and Tropicana Hotels. During this time Norma began her career as a church secretary for Griffith United Methodist Church where she met and became friends with many in the congregation. Norma's favorite job at the church was giving food and clothing to the needy families that would stop in for help. In Las Vegas, son Timothy and daughter Nicole were born in the mid 1960's. At a young age, all the children began to learn the game of golf as their father took up the game as a hobby. The sport became a constant in Norma's life from that point on, as all four children ultimately took up the game. Norma spent many days during the summers driving the children to various cities in Southern California for junior golf tournaments, as there were few tournaments for juniors in Las Vegas at that time. The Dutt family, Norma included, spent many memorable hours and days at the then Winterwood Golf Course where the children were taken under the wing of many of the regular customers who played the golf course. Norma was one of the parents who gave input and attended meetings when the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association was created along with daughter Nicole, who attended as a junior board member. She fondly remembered those days when the family met many wonderful parents and junior golfers, some who became long- time friends of the family. Norma was a warm, friendly person who always welcomed her children's friends into her home on any occasion and always had a smile for everyone. Norma believed that being successful was not about how much money you had, but the lives you can change by helping others. This, in the eyes of her children, made her the wealthiest woman they ever met! Norma is survived by her husband, Alfred; daughter, Nicole (Roberts); and sons, Eric (Cari), Mark and Timothy (Loretta). No services are planned and the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in Norma's name to the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association in Las Vegas.
