NORMAN FORREST Norman Forrest passed away May 15, 2018. Born in New York City in 1922, he began taking violin lessons at age seven and was quickly recognized for his talent. He attended the University of Miami on a music scholarship to study viola before serving in the Coast Guard during World War II. His musical career, playing viola, spanned nearly 60 years. In New York, Norman toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, led by Tex Beneke, and, later, with Frank Sinatra. He played in Billy Rose's Diamond Horseshoe Theater, was a member of the Radio City Music Hall, Symphony of the Air and Bell Telephone Hour Orchestras. He played recordings, live concerts and commercials. In the 1970s, Norman moved to Los Angeles to work on film scores. In the 1990's, he settled in Las Vegas to play in the hotel showrooms and later joined the Las Vegas Philharmonic when it debuted in 1998. Norman faced life challenges with a positive attitude and was known for his sense of humor. He is survived by his brother, Larry; daughters, Andrea and Beth; grandchildren, Noah and Natalia; and dear friend, Betty. Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
