Sunny Skylar Obituary
SUNNY SKYLAR Sunny Skylar, 95, son of Russian immigrants, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 2, 2009. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Oct. 13, 1913. Sunny called Las Vegas home for the last 30 years, with his late wife, Jackie. Sunny was the last of the great Tin Pan Alley authors, with over 300 songs to his credit. Some of his most famous were: Amor Amor; Gotta Be This or That; You're Breaking My Heart; Besame Mucho; and Love Me With All Your Heart. Sunny sang all these classics here in Las Vegas at the Flamingo and El Rancho Hotels, as well as worldwide. He is survived by his sister, Jeanne Pollack of Hollywood, Fla.; brother, Arthur Shaftel of Maryland; five children, Michael Skylar of California, Sara L. Collison of Nevada, Paul Skylar of California, Andrew Skylar of Nevada, and Mark Skylar of California; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. There will be a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Donations can be made to Safe Nest.
