WENDY APEL Wendy Apel, 69, loving wife and mother, passed away Sunday March 11, 2018, at St. Rose Hospital. She was born May 26, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, to her beloved parents, Vernon and Connie Diebold. Wendy lived her lifelong passion as an educator, working for 33 years as a school teacher in the Clark County School District. Wendy loved teaching children and was one of the first teachers at Dooley Elementary in Henderson. Her love for teaching and children resulted in her receiving the Distinguished Educator Award in 1996 and again in 2002 for the southeast area, as well as numerous awards for her work with children. She retired in 2011 and loved to travel and enjoy life with her husband and friends, but also maintained her love of teaching by volunteering with the Clark County Museum giving educational tours, as well as serving on the Museum Guild. Wendy was known to always be a caring and wonderful mother, wife and friend and went out of her way to bring pleasure, care and happiness to all, especially in their time of need. Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Tim Apel; son, Eron Lyon; and brother, Bruce Diebold, and his wife, Beth. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, March 18, with service following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Wendy's spirit and smile will be deeply missed by all and she will remain in our hearts forever.
