BETTY MILCAREK Betty Milcarek passed away peacefully from COPD after battling that and dementia. She was affectionately known as "The Beeg" to her family and friends. As a divorcée in the Midwest, she worked telephonically from home doing marketing research to raise her two daughters. After moving the family to the suburbs, she sold single-family homes there. Then Las Vegas called during the 1970s - it was the perfect city for someone who was as social and glamorous as she was. She again worked in real estate and ended up knowing many employees at the strip hotels where she loved the excitement. Her daughters, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends will miss this gorgeous and gregarious woman. Along the way, there were hospital visits and potholes, but as a breast cancer survivor, Betty kept moving forward. She loved to tell funny stories about long ago events to acquaintances to get them laughing. A celebration of life will be planned for next year when we hope to gather with relatives and friends to share more of these stories. Though her life was long, it seems as fleeting as the aroma from a bouquet of flowers or the taste of Belgian chocolates. Please raise a toast to her today on what would have been her 92nd birthday. Donations can be made to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (
