CHARLES EDWIN SAUER Charles Edwin Sauer, 86, passed away peacefully in the company of his family, June 1, 2021 in Las Vegas, at his home in Summerlin. He was born September 1, 1934, in Martinsville, New Jersey to Charles Frederick Sauer and Henrietta (Moeller) Sauer. Charles Sauer lived a long and fruitful life as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He graduated from Somerville High School in New Jersey in 1953 and attended business school in New Jersey for education in business management and law. Charles is remembered as a highly skilled tradesman in auto mechanics and as a craftsman in the construction industry for carpentry and architectural brick design. He was an entrepreneur who owned and operated multiple construction industry businesses during his lifetime. Charles Sauer was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, Buckskin Bowmen Archery Club, and Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his life he was an avid sports enthusiast and participated on track, wrestling, softball, bowling, and ice hockey teams. He was also a highly skilled woodsman, deer hunter, archer, and fisherman. Charles Sauer was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Henrietta Sauer; sisters, Henrietta Sauer, Ellen Donnelly, and Mildred Bohrer; and, son, Craig Sauer. Charles Sauer is survived by his wife, Shirley (Dudeck) Sauer; daughter, Linda (Sauer) Kalekas; sister, Esther Manara; four grandsons, James Kalekas, Nicholas Kalekas, Matthew Kalekas, and Paul Kalekas; and many nieces, nephews, and family friends. A private Celebration of Life service is planned for family and friends of Charles Sauer.
