CAPT. DARRELL NELSON U.S. Army, Retired Capt. Darrell Clifford Nelson, 69, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 31, 2010. He was born July 17, 1941, in Tacoma, Wash., and was a resident of Nevada since 1998. Darrell was a retired helicopter pilot of the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was also an accountant. Darrell was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mensa and the NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Margaret Roen Nelson; and brother, Ronald Andrew Nelson. Darrell is survived by his wife, Helen Nelson; son, Darreck (Elizabeth) Derr of California; daughters, Jennifer K. (Allen) Hinkle of Spokane, Wash.; Sandra K. (Anthony) Tallbear of Texas; sons, Nicholas (Cathy) Derr of California, Douglas Wayne Nelson of Las Vegas, Neal Alan (Denise) Stine of California, and Wesley Edlen Stine of Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Tule Springs LDS Stake Center, 6051 Dorrell Lane.
