Juanita Sanford, a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, died on her birthday January 20th, 2019 at the age of 59 at her home in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Juanita is survived by her children Nick and Mike Sanford; her sisters Elizabeth Farnden and Linda Garcia-Rose and her brother Rick Garcia; and her grandchildren Cora and Tessa Sanford. She is predeceased by her husband Randal Sanford and her mother Madeline Garcia.

Juanita was born in Hartford, CT on January 20th 1960. She lived in many places including Colombia, Miami and Connecticut most of her life before moving to Las Vegas.

Juanita ran small businesses from 1993 running events for Big Beautiful Women (BBW) both in Connecticut and then in Las Vegas. It was a passion of hers to “have a place where big girls could go be comfortable and not judged and learn to love and accept themselves.”

Juanita believed in living life to the fullest whether organizing holidays, laughing, playing games, bingo or dancing. She had an incredible sense of humor which brought joy to everyone around her. Juanita would do anything for her kids and family. She adored photos of her family in the outfits she loved to buy them.

She will be missed by all of her loved ones.

My mom was the best in the world. I know everyone says that but she really was. She loved us unconditionally, loved her grand babies beyond belief. She would spoil them with Silly costumes, princess dresses and all the toys. It was her favorite to see them open up gifts and to get to FaceTime with them. My mom made sacrifices for me my whole life but she kept us in a home we couldn't afford in CT so I didn't have to leave the schools I was in my whole life. I owe her everything for that and so much more. I love you mom, I miss you so much and I hope you're at peace and you get to see these little girls grow up there. I won't let them forget you. I will do my best to make you proud. Love you so much.

My sister was an amazing second mom to me. My childhood was spent with her and Nick and Mike on holidays, playing and just being together. She taught me how to get up to no good and how to never be judgemental. Love you as big as the sky!
