Growing up, Mary and her family moved often with the Air Force. By the age of seven Mary was a world traveler, having gone from the Far East to southern Europe, with multiple stops between. They settled in Las Vegas in December of 1970. Mary married Steven Sheppard July 12, 1976, and had children Stephanie, Matthew, and Justin. Mary later had Michael and Christopher from another relationship. Mary met future husband and life-partner, Edward Tyszko, while they both worked at the Imperial Palace. She was so well liked that one of the owners took her on a trip to Ireland! Mary became a Bears, Cubs, and more recently a Golden Knights fan along the way. When her father passed July 1, 2005, Mary moved back to Las Vegas to help care for her mother. Mary's kidneys failed in October, 2011. Her memory will live on through her husband, Eddie; her children; Stephanie Magel, Matthew Sheppard, Justin Sheppard, Michael Akers, Jr., and Christopher Akers; her mother Sadako Heath; sister Nancy Castonguay, and brother Thomas Heath and all their families.
