RAYMOND FERNANDEZ It is with an extremely sad heart that this obituary is written for Raymond Vinluan Fernandez, 62, who passed away December 10, 2020. Raymond was a resident of Las Vegas after serving 20+ years in the U.S. Air Force. Raymond was born April 15, 1958 in Pensacola, FL to Venancio and Soledad Fernandez. After traveling all over the country with his family during his Fathers tenure in the U.S. Navy. The family settled down in Chula Vista, CA where Ray was a proud student of Castle Park High School. He married his wife, Vivien Fernandez, in 1989. They had many adventures together in Hawaii, Georgia, Texas and finally Nevada. Raymond was able to help bring over his wife's family to the United States from the Phillipines during their time together. Ray loved his family and ministries. He was active in his Baptist church. He always signed his Birthday and Christmas Cards with a proclamation of his love of his faith and wanting others to fill their hearts with Christ. Ray was a big sports fan. He loved the San Diego Padres, the Chargers and Filipino Boxing Champion Manny Pacquiao. Ray is preceded in death by his father, Venancio Fernandez and his brother, Jeffery Fernandez. He is survived by his mother, Soledad Fernandez; his wife, Vivien Fernandez; daughter, Christiana Fernandez; his sisters, Cynthia (Collier) and Corinne Fernandez; and his brother David Fernandez along with Henry Diaz, Juliet Diaz and other siblings from Vivien's family. Ray was a son, brother, husband, dad, and beloved friend. He will be missed dearly but his gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of so many. Services will be 9-10 a.m. Fri., Jan. 8, at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, NV 89005.
